URGENT APPEAL TO SUPPORT THE VICTIMS OF THE EARTHQUAKE IN HAITI

The Federation of Muslim Organisations expresses its deepest sympathies to the citizens of Haiti for the tragic losses suffered as a result of the earthquake. Suleman Nagdi spokesperson said “We are profoundly shocked to hear of this terrible earthquake that hit Haiti, our heartfelt thoughts go especially to the bereaved families who have lost their loved ones during the tragic calamity. I am confident that as a nation, we will once again, all stand ready to help Haiti with urgent relief and assistance in this hour of need.

You will no doubt be aware of and touched by the destruction and carnage caused by the tragic earthquake in Haiti. Many thousands have lost their lives and families across the island are now suffering from homelessness and lack of key essential supplies.

The Chair of the Federation of Muslim Organisations (FMO), Abdul Karim Gheewala is urging all its affiliated organisations comprising of Mosques and Muslim Organisations to do their utmost to help the people of Haiti by getting in touch with one of the major humanitarian agencies and contribute towards their efforts. It is one of the pillars of Islam and therefore one of our duties as Muslims to help those in need and we must all show solidarity with the people of Haiti at a very sad time.
