Suleman Nagdi supports Crimestoppers

Crimestoppers

Suleman Nagdi MBE DL, Federation of Muslim Organisations, has written a piece supporting Crimestoppers and the work the charity does. [18 November 2009]

Mr Nagdi writes:

We all need to feel safe and secure; this helps us to preserve our values. What is the Islamic perspective on matters of wrongdoing? In my view, Islam seeks to protect and to preserve the rights of people, we have a right to live without fear and our society must be one that respects and values such protection.

Those that violate these rights must be brought to account and must be treated within the rules of our justice system, indeed; having a justice system is a requirement of our faith and appears regularly in the Quran, one example:

“God commands justice, righteousness, and spending on ones relatives, and prohibits licentiousness, wrongdoing, and injustice…” (Quran 16:90)

We all want a safe world; we share universal principles in this regard. Crimestoppers is a charity that reflects these values. We all have a responsibility to support and work with an organisation that holds these universal principles. Crimestoppers touches us all and there cannot be barriers to achieving the goals of our agreed common values.

It is my hope that you will join me in supporting and contributing in any way you can to this vital area of social action.
